About us
The research in our lab focuses on the mechanisms of Orientation (direction-finding) and Navigation (position-finding) in migratory animals. We aim to uncover how birds 🐦, bats 🦇, and butterflies/moths 🦋 use magnetic and visual cues to guide their long-distance movements. To address these questions, we conduct a wide range of behavioural experiments under both natural and laboratory-controlled conditions, using custom-made, low-budget, open-source experimental setups
Our philosophy
According to our philosophy, all information and knowledge — including experimental results, protocols, scripts, components of experimental setups, and instructions for their construction — should be freely and fully accessible to both the scientific community and the public. To support this principle, we aim to use our virtual home, i.e. our website, to openly share all of these resources. We hope that doing so will save time and resources for other researchers, particularly those at early career stages and those working in low-income countries.
